# PostFinance QR Invoice

### Overview

The **QR Invoice Processor** lets you issue Swiss QR-bill invoices and automatically reconcile the corresponding payments in your space. This page explains how to activate the processor, request a production QR-IBAN and switch to live mode.

### Prerequisites

* A PostFinance Checkout account with **administrator** access
* A Swiss commercial bank account
* Authority to sign the **ESR registration form** — PostFinance generates the QR-IBAN

{% hint style="info" %}
You can complete all steps up to *Go live* without a QR-IBAN; transactions stay in **test** mode until you enter it.
{% endhint %}

### 1. Enable the processor (test mode)

1. Sign in to {inject-platform-name} and choose the space you want to use.
2. Open **Settings > Features**.
3. Search for `qr` and select **QR Invoice Processor with PostFinance**.
4. Click **Add**, then **Continue**.
5. Enter an internal **name** (e.g. `QR Invoice`) and click **Save**.

A test processor appears with status **Test**.

### 2. Configure behaviour (optional)

| Option                   | Purpose                                                         |
| ------------------------ | --------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Send reminder emails** | Sends an automatic payment reminder before the due date. |
| **Send invoice emails** | Sends the PDF invoice with an embedded QR code to the customer. |

Enable the options that match your workflow and click **Save**.

#### Instant Invoice Payment (connector setting)

In the connector of your QR invoice payment method (**Space settings > Payment > Connectors**), you can enable **Instant Invoice Payment**. When it is enabled, the invoice PDF also contains a QR code and a payment link, so the customer can pay the invoice online right away.

#### QR-Invoice Type (connector setting)

The **QR-Invoice Type** in the connector of your QR invoice payment method (**Space settings > Payment > Connectors**) defines whether the invoice carries a fixed amount:

| QR-Invoice Type                            | Result                                                                                                                |
| ------------------------------------------ | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Fixed Amount** | The transaction amount is printed on the QR-bill and contained in the QR code. The customer pays exactly this amount. |
| **Customer Settable Amount (QR-Invoice+)** | The QR-bill is issued without an amount. The customer enters the amount when paying, for example for donations. |

The setting also applies to invoices delivered by **eBill**: with *Fixed Amount* the eBill shows the amount in the customer's e-banking, with *Customer Settable Amount* it is delivered without an amount.

{% hint style="info" %}
If you use several connectors for the QR invoice (for example one with eBill and one without, selected through connector conditions), the QR-Invoice Type is set per connector. Check the setting on the connector that actually processes the transaction — you see it in the transaction details under **Connector**. Make sure your test and production spaces use the same setting.
{% endhint %}

### 3. Request a production QR-IBAN

1. Open the processor and click **ESR registration form**.
2. Download, complete and sign the PDF.
3. Send the form to PostFinance — the address and instructions are on the last page.
4. PostFinance issues your **QR-IBAN** in roughly **5 business days**.

{% hint style="warning" %}
The QR-IBAN is different from your regular IBAN and always starts with `CHxx 30000`. Using your regular IBAN instead will prevent payments from being reconciled.
{% endhint %}

### 4. Go live

1. After receiving the QR-IBAN, return to **Settings > Features > QR Invoice Processor**.
2. Click **Switch to live**.
3. Paste the **QR-IBAN** into the **IBAN (live)** field and click **Save**.

The processor status changes to **Live** and your account can now create real QR-bill invoices.

### 5. Create a QR-bill via the API

A QR invoice is an ordinary transaction. You do not pass the payment method in the request: the QR invoice is offered through its connector, according to the connector's conditions and priority. The customer chooses it on the payment page, or it is the only option if no other connector applies.

```http
POST /api/v2.0/payment/transactions HTTP/1.1
Host: <your platform host>
Space: 101112
Authorization: Bearer <JWT signed with your application user's key>
Content-Type: application/json
{
  "currency": "CHF",
  "merchantReference": "INV-2025-042",
  "lineItems": [
    {
      "name": "Order INV-2025-042",
      "quantity": 1,
      "amountIncludingTax": 120.00,
      "type": "PRODUCT",
      "uniqueId": "inv-2025-042-1"
    }
  ]
}
```

{% hint style="info" %}
The space ID goes into the `Space` header, not into the request body. How to sign the JWT and which host to use is described in the [Web Service API](/documentation/developer-tools/api-reference/web-service-api.md) documentation. To offer the QR invoice only in specific cases, use connector conditions — see [Connector Configuration](/documentation/payments/overview/processors-payment-methods-and-connectors/connectors.md).
{% endhint %}
